Abstract

The geophysical industry can be a dangerous place to work. However, for almost a century, the geophysical industry has been moving toward greater safety and security for its workforce. Sadly, hundreds of people have died over the years in accidents on geophysical surveys. This is partially documented in the Aide Memoir for Geophysical Risk Assessors, an industry fatality database maintained by the International Association of Geophysical Contractors (IAGC) that goes back to the early 1970s (http://www.iagc.org/aide-memoir.html).
