Abstract

Latin America is a region of great variety. Tequila (Mexico), caipirinha (Brazil), pisco (Peru, Chile, Ecuador), aguardiente, and rum (Colombia, Venezuela) are well-known names for most geophysicists around the globe. A great variety of people and cultures, landscapes, flora and fauna, politics, and religions makes Latin America a very diverse and special community.
