Abstract

A major goal of geophysical analysis is to predict the lithologic and fluid content of the subsurface. Of necessity, most of the measurements are conducted remotely using seismic or electromagnetic equipment. These remote data should be calibrated with the expected properties of the subsurface, principally from well control. As a result, rock physics is a key component of the process to ensure that the appropriate geophysical response is measured and obtained.
