Abstract

A day laborer, trying to surprise his new wife, saves his spare change and works extra hours in effort to afford a beautiful roast for the holidays. The night before the holiday he stops at the butcher shop on his way home from work and purchases the roast and surprises his wife. She kisses him, excitedly takes the roast into the kitchen, unwraps it, puts it on the counter, and with a large meat cleaver trims one-quarter of the roast off both ends and discards it in the trash before placing the meat in a large pan for further preparation.
