Abstract

Much of the land seismic acquisition industry must think it has gone to heaven without even dying. Business has rarely been so good for so many contractors and manufacturers. Around much of the world there are levels of survey work unknown for decades, and there is growing agreement that new and better types of land exploration are needed to guarantee future energy supplies (whatever the oil price). Possibly even more like paradise is the unheard of choice in competing acquisition technologies and arrays of instrumentation now available to solve just about any land survey problem, a situation unimaginable a few years ago.
