Abstract

Collaboration is talked about with much favor in business circles. One reason is that high technology industries now realize that they cannot innovate quickly enough on their own to stay competitive, and they are looking to outsiders, such as partners and customers, for help. With access to new tools and resources, engineers are able to create solutions to problems more efficiently and effectively. Often, new ideas lead to new products and technology, and the resulting commercial benefits can be divided and shared among collaborators.
