Abstract

The ultimate goal of any rock physics analysis is to gain insights into the physical properties of a reservoir. These can be bulk properties such as lithology, porosity, and permeability, or dynamic properties like fluid content and pressure. A geophysical rock physics analysis uses the measured elastic properties from seismic data to determine relationships that yield information about the reservoir rocks. However, these relationships should not be determined exclusively by seismically-derived properties.
