One of SEG's most important roles is to recognize and honor individuals and organizations whose energy, enthusiasm, and innovation have advanced our science and benefited our society.

Over the past six months I have spent long hours in meetings with four of your past presidents — Mike Bahorich, Sally Zinke, Bill Barkhouse, and Walt Lynn — to select deserving recipients from a list of candidates that SEG members helped to nominate. It has been a long process, because any awardee must have the unanimous support of both our committee and the SEG Executive Committee.
