Global Positioning System (GPS) technology provides a cost-effective surveying method that is replacing traditional methods of precise leveling in exploration. Using satellite-derived GPS coordinates can, however, generate problems, because they will need to be translated to national systems, if this is the preferred local system being used by the explorationists. However, consistent coordinates should be used to compute gravity corrections.
