Several different types of applications of multicomponent data have been demonstrated in both the offshore and onshore environment. To date, however, actual applications have not been as widespread as the potential benefits of the methods may suggest. Barriers to widespread application of the technique are not only limited by the lack of fidelity in the actual recording. Of course, the better the data the more likely the application, but good data—although necessary for successful interpretation—may not be sufficient to lead to universal usage.
