Figures shown in Part 1 of this article (January 2002) have been limited to the situation where sediment exceeds accommodation—typically, the inner shelf. We turn now to situations where the sediment is less than the accommodation.

Figure 7 is a basinward extension of Figure 2; the left edge of the shaded cross-section in Figure 7 is the right edge of that in Figure 2. The sea-level cycles and the subsidence are the same as in Figure 2, so that the curve of sea level plus subsidence plus drift is also the same.
