This issue's special section on “geophysics in giant fields” was put together, in part, to inspire geophysicists who are still on the path to finding a giant oil field (defined as in-place reserves of 1 billion barrels oil or more). The geophysicists who wrote these papers have solutions to development problems that will interest readers who happen to work on more modest-sized fields as well.
