Traditional methods for designing AVO indicators are based on the deviation of gas sands from the wet-sand/shale trend in an AVO crossplot such as intercept and gradient (A-B), near and far angle (N-F), P and S reflectivity (RPRS), etc. These crossplots are typically constructed directly from log data such that each point represents an interface.
