Experience in applying amplitude variation with offset (AVO) processing and interpretation techniques in the Yegua gas trend of South Texas continues to reveal new surprises and insights. After more than 15 years of using these techniques to qualify prospects, with a commendable 50% local success rate, geophysicists continue to advance the science of AVO through their successes and failures. The case studies given here support several AVO lessons, many of which were initially enumerated by Allen, Peddy and Fasnacht (March 1993, TLE).
