Joint SEG/EAEG research workshops are held every two years, alternately in the Unites States and Europe. On 9–14 August 1992, the usefulness of amplitude-versus-offset (AVO) was the topic under discussion in Big Sky, Montana, at what turned out to be the largest summer workshop in SEG history, with 160 participants representing 20 countries and all major oil companies.
