Regional seismic networks (RSNs) play a unique role in the realm of earthquake studies and earthquake hazard. Not only are regional networks a source for seismic data and earthquake information, but they also play significant roles that include but are not limited to public information, education and outreach, Comprehensive Test Ban Treaty monitoring developments, tsunami monitoring, the development and implementation of earthquake early warning, and facilities with local expertise on earthquake matters.
