The Eastern Section of the Seismological Society of America (ES‐SSA) requests nominations for the 22nd Annual Jesuit Seismological Association (JSA) Award for Contributions to Observational Seismology. The award, which honors outstanding contributions to observational seismology, was presented most recently to Art Frankel.

In nominating his U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) colleague for the 2017 JSA award, Robert Williams wrote that a hallmark of Frankel’s “long, distinguished career has been his insistence on incorporating earthquake observations, to serve as reality checks on his numerous pioneering source and ground motion studies, and in constraining the USGS National Seismic Hazard Maps.”
