Any analysis of historical earthquakes is done with the hope that it will help better explain local seismicity or provide new clues to understand independent observations constraining seismotectonic processes. We therefore welcome the comment on our paper (Herak et al., 2017; hereafter, Hea2017) by Stiros (2017; hereafter, S2017), who suggests that the 1750 Bakar earthquake, one of the three events we analyzed in Hea2017, could have been responsible for at least a part of the land subsidence in the Bakar area, evidenced by submerged tidal notches in the Bay of Bakar (see also references in S2017)....
