On 23–26 October 2016, the 88th annual meeting of the Eastern Section of the Seismological Society of America (ES‐SSA) was held in Reston, Virginia, jointly with the Next Generation Attenuation (NGA)‐East project. Events took place at the Sheraton Hotel in Reston. The meeting was attended by 80 registrants.

The meeting began with a field trip on Sunday, 23 October to examine the geological and earthquake engineering aspects of Washington, D.C. The field trip had 26 participants including the leaders. J.
