Two graduate students—Manuel Mendoza at the University of California, Riverside, and Gabrielle Tepp at the University of Rochester in Rochester, New York—represented the Seismological Society of America at the 2015 Geosciences Congressional Visits Day (Geo‐CVD), 29–30 September 2015 in Washington, D.C.

Each year SSA invites U.S. graduate students to apply for a travel grant to attend Geo‐CVD, supplying up to $2000 to cover travel expenses (transportation, lodging, and food costs). Geo‐CVD grant winners are asked to write a brief report on the experience for publication in SRL, and Mendoza’s and Tepp’s accounts are published below.
