The IRIS community recently lost one of its founding fathers, Jim Fowler, who passed away 25 February 2014, after a lengthy battle with cancer and Parkinson’s disease. The loss is particularly felt by those of us in the community who have benefited in ways large and small from the existence of the IRIS PASSCAL portable instrument program, for which Jim was the first program manager and engineer.
