On 30 January 2012, a small magnitude earthquake of mb 4.6 occurred at 17:04:25.55 near Ras Mohamed area, at the southern end of the Gulf of Suez (European‐Mediterranean Seismological Center [EMSC]). This event is located very close to the active triple junction zone where the northern most part of the Red Sea bifurcates into the Gulf of Suez and Gulf of Aqaba.
