We welcome you to the 2013 Annual Meeting of the Seismological Society of America in Salt Lake City. On 24 July 1847, when Mormon pioneers first viewed the Salt Lake Valley, Brigham Young famously pronounced, “This is the right place”—the place of destiny and refuge they had been seeking.
