Hadj Benhallou (1937–2011), founder of Algeria’s Centre de Recherche en Astronomie, Astrophysique et Geophysique, died recently in Algiers after a lengthy illness.

After 26 years as Director of Earthquake Risk Management at Pacific Gas and Electric Company (PG&E) in San Francisco, Lloyd Cluff has retired. He will continue his professional activities as a consulting earthquake geologist from his home in San Francisco. Under Lloyd’s leadership, PG&E was a major participant in SSA activities.
