In his comment (Seismological Research Letters82 (4), 599–605, Ronald Marple states, “Two different models have been presented to describe the geometry of the Woodstock fault near Summerville, South Carolina. The fault bend model of Marple and Miller (2006)” and the displacement model. The suggestion of a left-lateral offset in the Woodstock fault, referred to by Marple as the “displacement model,” was first made by Garner (1998). Subsequent studies have added to or modified the details of the offset, but the basic idea of the model has been maintained.
