The 12 May 2008 MW 8.0 earthquake in China's Sichuan Province left 4.5 million people homeless, 374,000 injured and more than 69,000 dead or missing. Within days, the National Center for Research on Earthquake Engineering joined a Taiwanese reconnaissance team to collect information in the affected region.
