DAQ Systems has announced NetDAS for Windows XP-embedded. NetDAS/XPe has the same TCP/IP client/server package and formats as NetDAS/eLinux (embedded Linux) but features an embedded CPU with the resources to run Windows. XPe differs from XP in that only necessary components are included in the operating system kernel thereby reducing system resource requirements while increasing reliability. Users communicate with NetDAS/XPe via the Windows Remote Desktop, which is the same as the Windows desktop but operates over a network.
