Although earthquake lights (EQLs) are considered a scientifically proven fact (Derr 1973; Ouellet 1990), and experiments have been implemented in the laboratory to try to explain their cause (Warwick et al. 1982; Brady and Rowell 1986; St-Laurent et al. 2006), a direct relationship between seismic waves and EQLs in situ has not yet been established.
