SSA member and Medalist Clarence R. Allen was named an honorary member of the Earthquake Engineering Research Institute (EERI). Allen was awarded honorary membership in honor of his many contributions to earthquake risk reduction, for his leadership in fostering knowledge about earthquake hazards and the interface between Earth science and engineering, and for his service as president of both the Geological Society of America and the Seismological Society of America.
