Located in the Caribbean Sea at 18°N 77°W, the island of Jamaica has historically experienced very destructive earthquakes (Sloane, 1809; Brown, 1907; Cornish, 1908; Davidson, 1907; Fuller, 1907; Taber, 1920; Hall, 1922; Robinson, 1958; Tomblin and Robson, 1977).
