The European Geophysical Society has awarded SSA member Giuliano Francesco Panza the Beno Gutenberg Medal. Panza is Professor of Seismology at the University of Trieste and head of the International Center for Theoretical Physics (ICTP) Structure and Non-linear Dynamics of the Earth (SAND) Program in Trieste. He was honored for his scholarly achievements in earthquake modeling and for advancing international cooperation in earthquake analysis and prediction.
