Densities in the earth are recalculated using Bullen’s (1940) method taking into account the existence of the mantle low-velocity zone. This raises densities down to 5850 km radius and in the core, lowers them in the lower mantle. Clark and Ringwood's (1964) eclogite model is more consistent with the seismically predicted values than is their pyrolite model.
