The Albanian Seismological Network (ASN) has been operating 13 seismological stations since 1976. All these stations are equipped with short-period seismographs and analog-type drum recorders. The well-known Richter's formula modified for our conditions has been used to report local magnitude.

Having no digital recording capabilities (digital recording was only introduced very recently in Albania), we constructed some relations for estimation of moment magnitude based on the old archive of analog seismograms. The technique employed checks the analog records of some earthquakes whose moment magnitude was already determined by any well-known agency. The new formulas are used for new Catalogue of Albanian Earthquakes, 1964-2000, and will be included in the practice of magnitude determination in this country.
