Surface wave phase velocities as functions of azimuth at a period of 100 sec are presented for a representative oceanic structure in which azimuthal anisotropy is caused by flat, elliptical, horizontal, liquid-filled cracks. On such a model, cracks which cause a 0.6 per cent azimuthal variation in Rayleigh-wave phase velocities produce only a 0.02 per cent azimuthal variation in Love-wave phase velocities.
