abstract

Seismic and hydroacoustic data for Kamchatka/Kuril earthquakes of January 1 to July 31 1965 are analyzed in terms of detectability of hydroacoustic signals as a function of seismic magnitude, depth of focus and epicenter locations. An improved calculation procedure for estimating location of hydroacoustic epicenters is presented which results in a clear and simple interpretation of the combined seismic-hydroacoustic data as they relate to “epicenter” calculations.
