The positions of submarine epicenters of seismic shocks occurring during a twelve and one-quarter year period were plotted on a bathymetric chart of the area off southern California. The data show: (1) that the sea floor is active seismically, and (2) that the seismic activity and the topography are related. It appears that the major topographic features are of tectonic origin and that the forces which brought them about are still active.
