A house in Yauco, Puerto Rico damaged by the 7 January 2020 M6.4 earthquake, the largest in an ongoing sequence that began in late 2019, serves as a reminder that the Caribbean region is subject not only to hurricanes but also to significant seismic activity. “Puerto Rico Seismicity, Tectonics, and the 2020 Earthquake Sequence” is the subject of this issue’s Focus Section. The many papers within the Focus Section explore a variety of topics highlighting recent research on the earthquake sequence and its associated data.
