On September 8 (Sept. 7, local time), 2021, as we were getting this issue of SRL ready to go to press, a magnitude (Mw) 7.0 earthquake causing significant damage occurred near Acapulco, Mexico, very close to the infamous Guerrero Gap. The cover image shows damage to a hotel in Acapulco. Although it is too soon for research papers on the 2021 earthquake, we would like to draw your attention to two articles in this issue (Suarez and Garcia-Acosta, and Mendoza and Martinez-Lopez) focusing on earthquakes in the Guerrero region of Mexico.
