The medieval Prague (Czech Republic) Astronomical Clock serves as a reminder that accurate timing is an integral part of seismology, a topic highlighted in an article by Agnew (this issue) covering the history and importance of timekeeping in seismology. Within the Historical Seismogram focus section in this issue are many success stories involving the preservation and analysis of analog seismograms but many more seismograms are in danger of being lost due to natural deterioration and pressures to reduce storage space. Time is of the essence in preserving this valuable data set.
