The year 2016 has been a year of change for VZJ. Michael Young (UT-Austin) rotated off as editor of VZJ. Michael has done a tremendous job in further developing VZJ as an important outlet for research in the vadose and the critical zone. He has promoted the visibility and competitiveness of VZJ also by implementing two new features (rapid communications and reproducible research), thereby strengthening the high scientific quality of our journal.
