Synopsis

A specimen labelled as part of a tetrapod trackway with an apparent sinusoidal tail-drag mark in the museum collection at Dunrobin Castle, Golspie, is identified as part of the ‘lost’ nineteenth-century collection made by the Revs Campbell and Joass in 1862 at Tarbat Ness east of Tain, Easter Ross. On the basis of further examination it is concluded that the ‘tail-drag’ is probably an invertebrate horizontal burrow.
