Where best to publish one's latest scientific findings? This can be a difficult question and, within the UK academic community, is made ever more complex by external factors, amongst which the recurrent Research Assessment Exercise (RAE) dominates. However, a key issue, irrespective of the country and/or operating environment of the individual, must be to maximize exposure of the study to the wider scientific community.
