The Devonian formations in the eastern end of the Saint-Julien-de-Vouvantes basin in the Angers region, France, consist of a continuous series of lower Siegenian to Emsian beds. The fauna (trilobites and brachiopods) recently discovered in blue shales within the sequence confirms the presence of the middle Siegenian zone.
