Abstract

The Ethia series of the Pindic facies in Crete (Greece) includes about 30 m of Eocene transitional limestones at the top. The flysch facies overlies these limestones. Thus the Ethia series, in the paleogeography of the Hellenides, is on the outer margin of the Pindus trough, in the zone transitional to the Gavrovo-Tripolitsa ridge.
