Abstract

The genus Amphipora and other stromatopores of the genera Clathrodictyon, Stromatopora, and Stromatoporella occur in Devonian marine limestones at Zard Sang mountain, central Afghanistan. Associated fossils include numerous brachiopods and corals of upper Devonian, probably Frasnian, age. The best specimens, unfortunately, came from loose rocks among which both Frasnian and Famennian elements are present, hence the stratigraphic horizon cannot be assigned precisely.
