The beds making up the comprehensive series 'd 1 s 4 ' on the second edition of the Saint Lo sheet of the 1:80,000 geologic map are undifferentiated Silurian-Devonian. Poor outcrops and inadequate paleontologic evidence have prevented correlation of these beds or determination of the Silurian-Devonian contact. In the Saint Sauveur-le-Vicomte area, the beds include fossiliferous strata containing Wenlockian (Silurian) graptolites overlain by beds with fossils transitional between Gedinnian and Siegenian, thus placing the contact in that area. Outcrops of these beds are more extensive than the map shows, hence the map boundaries of the May sandstone 's 2b ' require revision, and the outcrops of kersantite are considerably smaller than indicated.
