The Raon-l'Etape and Senones granite massifs and the Etival diorite massif represent three successive stages of differentiation of magma intruded into the Devonian-Dinantian (Carboniferous) complex of the Vosges mountains, France, during the igneous activity associated with the Hercynian orogenic cycle (late Paleozoic). The diorite massif is the oldest and may have been emplaced before or during the first phases of the orogeny. Formation of the granite massifs took place after the main phase of dislocation.
