Abstract

Describes the madrepores (including Pachyphyllum chenouensis n.sp.) of a Devonian coral fauna from the Chenoua promontory at the western end of the Kabylia massifs of Algeria. For the most part the fauna comprises more species known from western and central Europe and the USSR than species described from the Sahara and Morocco. The madrepores indicate a Givetian-Frasnian age for the enclosing beds, which probably represent the boundary between the two stages.
