Abstract

Tertiary formations of the Bresse and lower Dauphine basins, France, are correlated and their paleogeography reconstructed. Conditions in both regions were similar during the Eocene and Oligocene, but differed considerably in the upper Tertiary, particularly in the Miocene. The Miocene section in lower Dauphine is very thick, whereas in Bresse it is very thin.
