Abstract

Study of trace elements (Pb, Sn, Ag, Cu, Ni, Cr) in members of the Liassic series of the Mont d'Or in the Central Massif of France indicates that the content depends more on conditions of sedimentation than on the chemical nature of the elements themselves. The genesis of a sedimentary mineral deposit therefore depends mainly on sedimentary conditions, rather than on the chemical character of the sediment as is the case with replacement deposits.
